Lots of DIY Going On!

It's been quiet around Kalina Blog because I'm up to my ears in projects! I feel like a blog should have pictures and information about your projects and not just update posts, but then I wised up and realized maybe some visitors are wondering what I am up to!?

Here's a few things I've been working on...

Painting tone-on-tone stripes in my powder room à la Young House Love.

Turning a dresser into a tv stand à la Addicted 2 Decorating.

Painting my knife block and utensil holder à la Every Creative Endeavor.

I've also been painting our 80's oak trim white, painting a mudroom my husband created and is still working on, finding thrifty ways to decorate my recently painted powder room, organizing my Ikea Aspelund wardrobe which currently functions as our main floor closet/storage area, gutting the original tiny coat closet to turn it into a utility/storage closet, purging clothing and listing stuff for sale on Kijiji in my efforts to declutter...

I will definitely be sharing all my projects including any pictures I took and information I have and what I learned along the way!

Needless to say, I have been keeping busy and nothing is complete enough that I wanted to share it just yet. I have the bad habit of starting projects and then getting ideas for other projects and starting those before the last one is complete! Do you do that too? I hate that I do that, lol! I need to follow through and complete ONE project at a time, but between coats of paint, I get antsy waiting and start thinking of other ways I can improve my home....sheesh, I really need to FOCUS.

The other day while visiting my mother-in-law, I made a huge score! A neighbour was moving out and put out at least 20 cans of good interior paint for garbage pickup! I think we grabbed 11 cans!! What I was most excited about was the name brands I found in the pile, such as Benjamin Moore paint, which I've never had the pleasure of trying. So I will let you know what I think of it, can't wait! They also threw out a perfectly fine white shelf and brackets which I already have hanging in my kitchen, I need all the surface spaces I can get!

What have you been working on lately? Do you get distracted easily from projects and start new ones before the prior project is complete? Let me know!

  2. You have been busy, I especially love the "utensils" holder!

Projects of mine? I need to bind a lap quilt I made for a relative of mine and want to start on a new quilt. Plus I should really actually MAKE a couple of the things I've pinned on pinterest instead of just waiting for them to make themselves. ha!
